Is your Rental Car properly covered under the insurance policy: Loss Damage Waiver
LDW-Car rental coverage

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) as it is popularly known by car rental companies offers an option of a partial insurance or rather full car coverage along with other rental services.

Rental-car insurance option that (when availed of upon payment of additional premium) relieves the customer of damages arising from loss of the car or any damage to it provided it is driven in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.
LDW is an optional services, and it usually ranges from $10 to $23.99 per day.

Most car renters complain as the costs of coverages on the car could be close to 15% of rental costs. (Which is indeed the only disadvantage)
Recently, a customer had a luxury car for two days rental period. Unfortunately, while parking in the Galleria, Houston, some one put a ding on the car while it was parked!. It was No fault of the renters.

The only option for the customer to repair the damages was to replace the glass and for a luxury car it costs about $300-$600 to replace a windshield. However, choosing to have only the car coverage, the customer paid only $79 for the whole rental period for covering the car.

Obviously, you can see the advantages prevails the few (if any) disadvantages.
Car rental companies might offer services that to some seem useless, however LDW is not one of them.
